Stephen King’s works have been a success both in print and on screen. With screen adaptations of 'The Stand and Rita Hayworth' and 'Shawshank Redemption' turning out to be huge successes, his other novel 'It' is all set to be on screen, again. In 1990, the novel was first adapted into a television miniseries starring Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown. And now, the 25-year old Bill Skarsgard is all set to be the new killer clown in town.
The movie versions have also struggled for years with false starts and setbacks just as King’s other novel - 'The Stand' did.
King’s tale of children facing off against the embodiment of their fears has been a hit ever since its inception in 1986. Considered to be one of the author’s finest works of horror, the last few years have seen the novel hit multiple roadblocks.
True Detective season 1 director Cary Fukunaga had been attached to direct the film but the project fell apart due to his creative differences with the studio behind the adaptation, New Line.
Bill Skarsgard, known for his roles on Netflix’s Hemlock Grove and Allegiant, has been secured to play the scary clown Pennywise in the reboot of King‘s It.
Will Poulter was originally tapped for the role last year. But 23-year-old Poulter had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Hugo Weaving was also in under consideration, but they went with Divergent actor Skarsgard of age 25.
The It cast will also include St. Vincent actor Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs and Jeremy Ray Taylor.
Andy Muschietti, the helmer behind the surprise horror hit Mama, is directing the adaptation. It is being portrayed in two parts. The producers of the adaptation are Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, David Katzenberg and Barbara Muschietti.
New Line recently announced the movie would bow on Sept. 8, 2017.
The role would mark the biggest role till date for Skarsgard. He is repped by WME, Magnolia Entertainment’s Shelley Browning, Hirsch Wallerstein and Agentfirman/Planthaber, and Kilden.
This young and handsome actor is the son of Stellan Skarsgard (Avengers: Age of Ultron) and the brother of Alexander Skarsgard, who starred in Warner Bros.' Legend of Tarzan last summer.
Stellan Skarsgard currently has a net worth of $40 million - most of the credit for that goes to the earnings he made from his movies. With the rising career of Bill, he is soon to reach to his father’s height of success.
There has not yet been news of Bill Skarsgard’s girlfriend, or even his other affair or break up.
