'Horror movies star' Mary Elizabeth Winstead raises the bar for 'Woke' in CBS' new series BrainDead

As per the casting announcement made by CBS Network, Mary Elizabeth Winstead will be starring in Braindead, the upcoming Washington D.C. set comic thriller from Robert and Michelle King.  Winstead, 32, will be playing Laurel, the daughter of a Democratic political dynasty.

According to their press release, her character Laurel left D.C. to become a documentary filmmaker but is pulled back into the family business when her brother, the senate majority whip, needs her help running his office. Young, fresh-faced Hill staffer, Laurel then discovers that the government has stopped functioning, and that alien spawn have come to Earth and eaten the brains of a growing number of congressmen and Hill staffers. BrainDead will premiere in summer 2016. Check out the trailers below:

 

“The Good Wife” creators Kings seem very confident about Winstead’s acting skills and her ability to mix comedy and drama and fans of "The Good Wife," the law-firm drama that recently wrapped after seven splendid seasons, needed only this from their favorite producers to recognize that "BrainDead" is worth their attention. Winstead’s filmography includes “Final Destination 3,” “Black Christmas,” “Death Proof”, “The Thing,”  ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,’ ‘Smashed’ and ‘Alex of Venice’ among others. On TV, she starred on A&E’s “The Returned,” and “Mercy Street.”

This month, Winstead will be on the road for a handful of showcase performances with Got a Girl, a musical duo featuring Winstead and music producer Dan the Automator. This band was formed in 2012 and their first studio album, “I Love You But I Must Drive Off This Cliff Now,” was released in 2014.

5 feet 8 inches tall, Winstead has a near perfect bikini body with measurement of 32-23-33. This hot diva has been rumored to be dating and in the relationship with many famous actors like Michael Angarano and Ryan Merriman. In 2010 she got married to Riley Stearns, a film director and television writer from Texas whom she met at age 18 on an ocean cruise.
