Toni Yates supporting the gay community as she hosts The Philadelphia Black Gay Pride's 5th annual

Toni Yates, a popular face in American media house, hosted the Opening Reception of The Philadelphia Black Gay Pride's Annual and showed her support to the community. Being an active member of National Association of Black Journalists, Yates has been long involved in such acts for her community.

Initially, the black LGBT pride began from a small gathering of people. They were feeling marginalized and less a part of the whole gay community in participation, organization and administration.

Today, the Black Gay pride has been working to unite and bring together black lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people to celebrate both their African heritage and sexual orientation. Most major cities in the U.S. host an annual Black Gay pride event, which includes Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Black Gay Pride (PBGP) first took its form in 1999 at the COLOURS Organization. It is the only LBGTQ service organization in Philadelphia primarily by and for people of color. COLOURS used to serve as the official host of the PBGP festival up until April 2004 when PBGP received its own 501 (c) (3) status. PBGP has been a member of the Center for Black Equity for the past 13 years.

“The mission of PBGP is to organize and promote unity among sexual and gender minorities through a variety of activities that advocate for the spiritual, emotional, intellectual health and well-being of all.”

 PBGP provides one of the only non-profit pride celebrations in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania created for and planned by volunteers of the community.

Famous personalities and celebrities are coming together to show their support to this minority community. Toni Yates has joined this race by doing her part.

Yates attended Bishop Kenny High School and she graduated from there. She then joined Florida State University and graduated with a major in Communications. In the initial years of her career, she worked as a reporter at WTOC in Savannah, Georgia and later went on to work as a weekend co-anchor with WSAV.

This beauty had an affair with broadcast-journalist Arthur Fennell. They got married in a grand ceremony but later got a divorce with her husband/spouse. Yates has three children with her ex-husband Fennell, named Sarah Austyn Fennell, Gabriel Wendell Harvey, and Alexis Naomi Fennell.

Her net worth has not been officially revealed but it is estimated to be around $1 million.
