Green was from a humble background. He was born in Summerville, South Carolina, United States of America to Woodrow, who was a steel worker and truck driver and Dora, a clerk at a Wal-Mart. When he was 5, his only sibling, older brother Avionce, died in a car wreck on the way to a school carnival; the wreck also left their aunt paralyzed.

After completing his high school, he claimed that he will attend the University of Georgia in October 2006 but he only joined their by signing a letter of intent to play at Georgia on February 6, 2008.

Joined Cincinnati Bengals

Green was listed in fourth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. On July 28, 2011, he received an offer from Cincinnati Bengals and he agreed to a four-year contract with them worth $19.6 million. After signing with them, Green became a member of School of the Legends (SOTL) in 2011.

He played for coach Mark Richt's Georgia Bulldogs football team from 2008 to 2010. It was reported that he earned a huge salary being a sportsman. In 2011, he signed a four-year contract with Cincinnati Bengals. The signing amount of his contract had a net worth of $19.6 million.
