Adam is one of the first gay singers to bring an uncensored gay perspective in American pop. He is an open gay. Adam revealed that he dated Finnish television host, Sauli Koskinen in November 2010. They were together for about two years and they called off their love life in April 2013.
In 1991, Adam joined Metropolitan Educational Theatre network and began performing with them. However, later he became more interested in acting and then he Broadway Bound Youth Theatre Foundation. He continued both singing and acting at the same time. He joined school's jazz band as the lead vocalist. In 2001, he performed with the Anita Mann Productions. In 2009, he auditioned in the 8th session of American Idol. During his audition, he sang Rock with You and Bohemian Rhapsody. His performance was superb. His performance on Black or White was well appreciated by all of the judges. He was expected to be the winner of the 8th session of American Idol; however, he was announced the runner up at the end of this contest. His debut album, For Your Entertainment was released on 23rd of November 2009. His net worth is said to be around $12 million.
