American actor Burt Reynolds, as a young man, was famous for his rugged looks and irresistible charm. He has also been credited for the box office success of many movies back in the 1970s and 1980s. His hit movies include The Longest Yard (1974), Smokey and the Bandit (1977), and  The Cannonball Run (1981).

Moreover, the 82-year-old actor was also a passionate athlete when he was still a young man. Unfortunately, injuries and car accidents never let him pursue a real football career. Consequently, Reynolds shifted to acting. His first breakout movie was Deliverance (1972) in which he played the role of Lewis Medlock.

Burt Reynolds's Career Trajectory

The acting was never Burt Reynolds' first choice. He was a football player until the day he was not. He also did some theatre work before breaking into the entertainment industry and making a name of his own in the tinsel town.

He had done many small roles in the movies like Angel Baby (1961), Navajo Joe (1966),  and the title character in the movie Run, Simon, Run (1970), and others before he made it big with the John Boorman's directorial movie Deliverance in 1972

He became one of the top actors in the following two decades.

The actor has won two Golden Globe Awards for the sitcom Evening Shade (1992) and movie Boogie Nights (1998). Boogie Nights are one of the most successful movies of the actor that earned her an array of awards including the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, New York Film Critics Circle, Online Film Critics Society, and many others.

Burt Reynolds's Investment and Net Worth

Burt Reynolds now is old and withering with age. But back in the time, he was young with a number of movies lined up in a queue. He had a five-year run as the world's top box-office draws from 1978 to 1982. He was a well-paid actor and earned around $10 million a year at his peak. 

Reynolds apart from acting also had his hands in several businesses. He owned a nightclub named Burt's Place, Atlanta in the late 1970s, and was a partial owner of a sports team Tampa Bay Bandits in 1982. He was the losing co-owner of 30 Po' Folks restaurants and Daisy's Diner chain restaurants with his friend Buddy Killen. The duo lost around $20 million each as their business collapsed.

Reynolds had declared bankruptcy in the mid-90s after his high-profile divorce with his second wife, Loni Anderson. He also had to sell his Florida mansion. He filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, in which he cited $6.6 million in assets and $11.2 million in debts. Also in 2011, Merrill Lynch Credit Corporation filed foreclosure papers claiming the actor $1.2 million on his home in Hobe Sound, Florida.

The 82-year-old actor has come a long way in collecting experiences as he has finally managed to take care of his finances. The actor's current net worth is estimated to be $6 million. 

Though old and gray, the actor has not yet retired from acting. Thus we can be assured that he will be increasing his fortune in years to come.
