Al Michaels is an American television sportscaster. He was born on November 12, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, the United States. He was born from father Jay Leonard Michaels and mother Lila Michaels and he grew up there with his family.

1962

His education and Graduation

The Brooklyn-grown Al Michaels attended Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles. He graduated in 1962 from there. After graduating from there, he enrolled at Arizona State University where he majored in radio and television while he also minored in journalism.

1964

Michaels' first sportscasting

Al Michaels' first sportscasting came in 1964 when he was taken to do public relations for the Los Angeles Lakers. Later he was hired to serve eight games as a color commentator but he was fired after first four games.

1970

Al Michaels also made his appearance in an episode of Hawaii Five-O called "Run, Johny Run" in 1970. In this episode, Michaels played a role of an attorney Dave Bronstein. It was aired on January 14, 1970.

He joined ABC Sports in 1977 as the backup announcer on Monday Night Baseball, however, he became a full-time announcer after one year and became the lead announcer in 1982 replacing Keith Jackson. He was the ABC announcer for the game 3 of 1989 World Series.
