In 2005, when Alan was performing in the QI he met the love of his life, Kate Maskell. Kate Maskell is a great writer. After being in a love affair for several months, they got engaged in 2006 and they finally got married on the 13th of January 2007. As a married couple, they have been parents three times.
Alan lost his mother to leukemia when he was just 6. After that, he was solely raised by his father. He received his primary education from Staples Road School. He also joined independent Bancroft's School and Loughton College of Further Education. He attended the University of Kent where he majored in Drama & Theatre Studies. He graduated from there in 1988. He has also been active in standup comedy since 1988. He made his debut performance at the Whitstable Labour Club. In 1991, he was honored by the Time Outs as its Best Young Comic. He was also honored with the Edinburgh Festival Critics Award in the mid-1990s. In 1994, he began hosting the radio show Alan’s Big One. He made his acting debut in 1997 and was in the mystery crime drama series, Jonathan Creek. His net worth is expected to be in millions.
