Ibarra's debut performance, which took place when he was 6, was La Casa de Te de la Luna de Agosto, a play where he performed beside his mother. He then appeared in the Mexican version of Sesame Street, in 1981. Soon after that, he starred in multiple Mexican soap operas such as Tal Como Ssomos (1987), Alcanzar una Eestrella (1990), Buscando el Paraíso (1993), Agujetas de Color de Rosa (1994), Marisol (1996) and El Noveno Mandamiento (2000).
He continued his TV soap career with the lead role in the 2007 series Amor sin Maquillaje. Currently, he is involved with Enamorándome de Ramón. Apart from his TV soaps, Ibarra has acted in movies as well, including the 1992 movie Mas Que Alcanzar una Estrella. Directed by Juan Antonio de la Riva and produced by Luis de Llano Macedo, the movie also features a song, Sha la la La (feat. Bibi Gaytan, Ricky Martin, Botellita de Jerez, Eduardo Capetillo & Lorena Rojas), by Ibarra.
Ibarra is known as much for his songs as he is for his acting chops. He seriously became active in music at the age of 16, in 1989. His 2010 album, Yo Quiero Contigo, was a hit with songs like Ese Silencio Songs, Ella es Fuego, Era un Chavo and Un Hombre Sentimiental, Mi Generación and Todo esta Bien. His 2016 album, No Busques mas Pretextos garnered equal praise from critics and fans alike.
On the personal side of his life, popular Mexican actress África Zavala was his girlfriend from 2006 to 2009. Soon after the affair ended, he married Marilu Milla. He has two children with his wife, Diego, born in 2010, and Sofia, born in 2014. His net worth is estimated at around $ 18 million.
