1996

Turned professional

Ali began playing snooker since he was in his early teens. After having successful amateur career, he turned professional at the age of 17. He has been competing in the professional level since 1996. As a professional player, he has already won three major titles. 

1999

Won Benson and Hedges Championship

He got his rise in fame after he became the champion of Benson and Hedges Championship in 1999. He was honored with WPBSA Association Young Player of the Year award that year. That year, he also reached to the semi final of Grand Prix.
