Alicia Vikander As Lara Croft On Tomb Raider: Takes On Footsteps of Angelina Jolie

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the 2001 Angelina Jolie's lead was a huge success with a gross collection of $274.7 million, made on a budget of $94 million. Tomb Raider was inspired by the most successful interactive video-game character, Lara Croft, in history.

Actor Michael Fassbender's wife, Alicia Vikander now takes on Jole's footsteps and will appear as the latest version of Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider movie, which will hit the screen in April 2018.

And the actress is so excited to come out to her fans as Lara, talking to Vanity Fair, she addressed her excitement as,

When I was asked to take on this role I got really excited—Lara Croft is a truly iconic character.

I think people can identify with her for lots of different reasons, but for me I very much see her as a model for many young women.

She’s trying to carve out her place in the world.

She is also uniquely different to other characters I have taken on previously. It's a lot of fun trying to get into Lara’s head and the challenge of getting to grips with such a physical role is an element of this project that I find an absolute thrill.

The 29-year old Swedish actor first hit the limelight appearing in Swedish TV drama Andra Avenyn (2008-10). The Andra alum was later introduced to a larger audience after she appeared as Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl, 2015' Tom Hopper directorial.
