Alton started his career producing cook shows after graduating from the New England Culinary Institue in 1997. He was very much disappointed with the quality of cook shows broadcast on American television back then and this inspired him to produce host own TV show.
Brown is the creator and host of the Food Network's TV series Good Eats. He also hosted shows like Feasting on Asphalt, Feasting on Waves, Iron Chef America, Cutthroat Kitchen and Camp Cutthroat. For his hit show Good Eats, Alton has announced that Good Eats will have the sequel and will be releasing soon on the internet.

Alton Brown has earned wide recognition and fame from his profession. He was named as Cooking Teacher of the Year by Bon Appetit magazine in 2004, won a Peabody Award for Good Eats in 2007, was named as Best Food Guru in 2005 by Atlanta magazine.
