Hanne Karin Blarke Bayer, also known as Anna Karina, is a Danish-French director, singer, actress, and writer. She was widely renowned as the French-Swiss director Jean-Luc Godard’s wife. She has also worked in various of his movies like A Woman IS A Woman (1961) and Vivre sa vie (1962).
In addition, she is also the winner of Silver Bear Award for Best actress for the film A Woman Is A Woman at Berlin Film Festival.
Early Life and Education
The Danish actress was born on September 22, 1940, in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her father was a captain of a ship while the mother owned an apparel shop.
Anna’s father left the family after a year of her birth, and she lived with her grandmother until she was four.
For the next four years, she lived in foster care and returned to her mother’s place. Due to the lack of familial love, she describes her childhood as "terribly wanting to be loved."

At the age of 14, Karina played in a Danish short film by Ib Schmedes which got her a prize at Cannes Film Festival.
