Ashanti has been active in the singing world since her early age. When she was aged three, she sang with the gospel choir, Having Some Fun and the Handsome Pigeons. She also studied dancing since her early days and she is now expert in tap, jazz, ballet, African, modern, and hip hop. Because of her humble background, she was not able to record her song when she was just a baby girl but later she began performing in several events and shows.
Her debut album Ashanti was released on 2nd of April 2002. This album was the massive hit as it entered no 1 on the US Billboard 200. The lead single of this album Foolish was released on 29th of January and this song was also one of the hit songs of her life. Till date she has released six albums in her life. She has been active as an actress since the early 1990s. In 2004, she appeared in her first feature film Bride and Prejudice. Recently in 2016, she was seen in the comedy movie Mothers and Daughters.
