Becky Lynch Wins First Ever All-Female Main Event at WrestleMania 35

Becky Lynch has become the first ever all-female main event in the history of WWE, winning the headline Winner Takes All match at WrestleMania 35.

The female wrestler, 32, who is originally from Limerick, Ireland, is now both the Smackdown and Raw champion after defeating title holders Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.

Following the win, Lynch took to Twitter and shared her feelings. She wrote, "Today is the day when you and me change how this business works."

Fans have been gripped with the huge rivalry between the three wrestlers over the past year.

Wrestlemania's main event has seen The Rock, The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan fighting out for the WWE's top prize during its 35-year history. 

Lynch, who is best known as The Man, has helped to inspire a generation of female wrestlers.

Wrestler Rihannon Docherty a.k.a Rhia O'Reilly told Radio 1 Newsbeat, "For so long, the wrestling industry has seen women as second-class citizens."

According to WWE, WrestleMania 2019 has grossed $16.9m breaking the record at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for the highest grossing entertainment event ever.

It also set an attendance record. More than 82,265, attended the event at the venue.  WWE claims that fans traveled from 68 countries.
