Beth Smith, Duane Chapman's Wife, Dies Following a Cancer Battle

Beth Smith, the Dog the Bounty Hunter star and the wife of Duane Chapman, died at a hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Wednesday, June 26. She was 51.

As for her cause of death, she passed away following a two-year-long battle with her throat and lung cancer.

Her husband Duane took to Twitter on June 26, to announce her death. He wrote,

It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.

Her death comes days after she was placed in a medically-induced coma. She had battled for a long time against cancer but it ultimately took her life.

Attorney for The Chapman, Andrew R. Brettler, also confirmed the tragic news in a statement. He wrote,

She was a fighter until the very end. We’ll miss her terribly and send our deepest condolences to Duane and the Chapman and Smith families.

The reality star was placed in a medically induced coma on June 22, and her husband “humbly” asked everyone to "pray for Beth."

She was previously hospitalized in April with serious breathing issues.

In September 2017, Beth Chapman was diagnosed with stage II throat cancer but two months later, the television personality revealed she was cancer-free.

However, later in November 2018, sources reported that the disease had returned and cancer had spread to her lungs.

Beth and Duane, who married on May 20, 2006, have three children; two sons and a daughter together, one of who is from his past relationship.
