Betty is a married woman. She has been married for a long time but the name of her husband is not revealed in the media. In mid-2015, she revealed that she is about to welcome her first child but later it was confirmed that she suffered a miscarriage. Despite going through a miscarriage, Betty later gave birth to a son and the family of three are living happily together.
Though Betty was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, she moved to the United States when she was just one during the Fall of Saigon. She completed her high school graduation from Fort Worth, Texas, and then she joined the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in broadcast journalism.
She began her professional career in 1996. During the late 1980s, she joined KWTX-TV where she worked as a morning anchor and reporter. She then joined KTVT-TV as an anchor. She is known for covering the news about the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster during her time in KTVT-TV. She also worked in CNN for more than half a decade. She then joined CBS News in 2010. She has been working at NBC since 2013.
