Beyonce pays tribute to late R&B singer Aaliyah on the occasion of Aaliyah's 15th death anniversary

Lemonade hitmaker Beyonce paid tribute to Aaliyah on the occasion of the late R&B singer's 15th death anniversary. The 34-year-old posted a video of her and Aaliyah on her Instagram account

Video: Beyonce and Aaliyah at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards

The video, which was posted without a caption, is of Beyonce interviewing Aaliyah at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards red carpet pre-show.

"Miss Aaliyah, how you doing, girl? "What are you looking to see tonight?" asked Beyonce.

"I wanna see D'Angelo perform," answered Aaliyah, with Beyonce seconding her friend, before both of them gushed about the hotness of the singer.

Back when Aaliyah's death was announced, Beyonce, still with Destiny's Child, said, "She was one of the first celebrities we met, she was so nice, we went out, we hung out with her, and it's really sad and we're trying to be strong."

Aaliyah died on August 25, 2001, when her plane crashed shortly after takeoff in the Bahamas. 

Also killed in the accident were security guard Scott Gallin, 41; family friend Keith Wallace, 49; record label employees Douglas Kratz, 28, and Gina Smith, 29; hairstylists Eric Foreman, 29, and Anthony Dodd, 34; makeup artist Christopher Maldonado, 32; and pilot Luis Morales III, 30.

The group had been traveling from the island of Abaco after shooting shot the music video for the song "Rock The Boat." An investigation later determined that the plane crashed because it was overloaded by several hundred pounds.
