Bill Clinton was born as  William Jefferson Blythe III,  on August 19, 1946, to the parents, William Jefferson Blythe Jr. and Virginia Clinton Kelley in Hope, Arkansas, United States. His father was a travelling salesman who had died in an automobile accident three months before his birth.

1974

Began his Political career

After graduating from Yale Law School, Clinton became a law professor at the University of Arkansas and then he began his political career in the year 1974 when he ran for the House of Representatives but he lost the election after only receiving 48 percent of the vote. 

 

 

1978

Elected for Governor of Arkansas

Clinton was elected Governor of Arkansas in the year 1978, having defeated the Republican candidate Lynn Lowe, a farmer from Texarkana. He became the youngest governor in the country at 32. Due to his youthful appearance, Clinton was often called the "Boy Governor".

 

1992

Won presidential election

He won the 1992 presidential election against Republican incumbent George H. W. Bush and billionaire populist Ross Perot, who ran as an independent on a platform focusing on domestic issues; a significant part of Clinton's success was Bush's steep decline in public approval.  

 

2013

Selected openly gay person for Administration positions

In 2013, Bill Clinton became the first President to select openly gay persons for Administration positions and he is generally credited as the first President to publicly champion gay rights.During his Presidency, he controversially issued two substantial executive orders on behalf of gay rights.

At the age of 32, he was the youngest governor in the United States. After an unpopular first term, he lost his reelection bid in 1980. Clinton successfully reclaimed his spot as governor of Arkansas in 1982, Bill decided to run for President of the United States in 1992. He easily defeated Jerry Brown in the Democratic Primary. George H.W. Bush was originally considered to be unbeatable, but his popularity started to drop before the election. This helped Clinton secure 370 electoral votes to become the President.

Bill easily defeated Bob Dole to win a second term as President in 1996. He became the second President to be impeached in 1998 after the scandal with Monica Lewinsky, but he was never removed from office. Despite the impeachment, Bill Clinton ended his political career as one of the most popular Presidents in the history of the United States.

The couple has a daughter together named, Chelsea Clinton.
