In 1985, Gates was honored by Good Housekeepings as one of the 50 Most Eligible Bachelors. He met the love of his life, Melinda French, in Microsoft. Melinda French is also a businesswoman and philanthropist. After having love affairs for several years, they finally got married on the 1st of January 1994. He is happy to have her as his loving wife. As a married couple, they have been parents three times.
Bill was raised in a middle-class family. As a child, his parents thought him to be a lawyer. When he was 13, he joined Lakeside School. While he was attending his 8th grade, he became more interested in programming the GE system in BASIC. He also wrote computer language at a young age. He was banned by the Computer Center Corporation for exploiting bugs in the operating system to obtain free computer time. After his band ended he began studying source code. In 1971, he was hired by Information Sciences, Inc and began writing a payroll program in Cobol. He earned computer time as well as royalties. He also wrote the school's computer program, he also modified the code to attract more girls towards him. When he was just 17, he formed the Traf-O-Data with his fellow mate Paul Allen. In 1973, he also worked in the U.S. House of Representatives as a congressional page. He completed his high school graduation from Lakeside School in 1973 and then he got enrolled at Harvard College scoring 1590 out of 1600 on the SAT. While he was in Harvard he devised an algorithm for pancake sorting. His algorithm held the record for the fastest version for over thirty years. He was more interested in computer language rather than as a student at Harvard. After he saw the release of MITS Altair 8800 based on the Intel 8080 CPU, he desired to own his own company. He dropped out from Harvard and joined Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems. As of 2016, he is said to have a net worth of $87 billion.
