Boyd Coddington was born as Boyd Leon Coddington in 1944 in Rupert, Idaho, United States of America to Lorna Sparrow Coddington and Harold Coddington. He was also raised in Rupert, Idaho. As a child, he was interested in reading car and hot rod magazines.

1957

Got his first car

He got his first car when he was in his early teens and that was a 1931 Chevrolet truck. Boyd's fascination in car and hot rod magazine pursued him to join machinist trade school at a young age. There he attended a three-year apprenticeship in machining. 

1968

Began building hot rods

From 1968, he began working in California. He built an old, classic American cars Hot rod during the day and at night he worked as a machinist at Disneyland. His intelligence in building Hot rod made his renowned all over the United States. 

1977

Opened his own shop

He opened his own shop in 1977 and founded Boyd's Wheels, Inc. in the late 1980s. His first car was purchased by Vern Luce and he was the winner of the Al Slonaker Award. Boyd was well appreciated in United States for his clean and elegant designs.

Married to Peggy Jeanne King

When Boyd was in early 20s, Boyd got married for the first time in his life and that was with Peggy Jeanne King. From this married life he also became father of this first child. But besides living a happy life as a husband and wife, they called off this married life in the late 1960s.

He died of sepsis and kidney complications

At the end of 2007, he was admitted at the Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital. He underwent a successful surgery in the early 2008 but he died of sepsis and kidney complications on 27th of February 2008 at the age of 63. His funeral was held at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
