Brain Williams is a happily married man and currently lives in New Canaan, Connecticut with his wife. He married Jane Gillan Williams on June 7, 1986 at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan, Connecticut and is still together. They have two children together; Daughter Alison (actress) and Son Douglas (2013 graduate of Elon University).
He is a graduate from Mater Dei High School. He attended Brookdale Community College, and then transferred to The Catholic University of America and then George Washington University, but, he did not graduate. He began his broadcasting career in 1981 for KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas. He joined NBC News in 1993 and in December 2, 2004, he became anchor of NBC Nightly News. His News Covering got him different awards; six Edward R. Murrow Awards, ten Emmy Awards, the duPont-Columbia University Award, the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism and the industry’s highest honor, the George Foster Peabody Award. Bates College in 2005 awarded Brain Williams an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. He was also named "Father of the Year" in 1996 by the National Father's Day Committee.
Brain Williams is not far from controversies. He was suspended for six months from his duties in February 2015, for misrepresenting his experience in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
