Bruno’s father is originally from Brooklyn, New York and Bruno's mother moved to Hawaii from the Philippines. They met each other while they were performing a show where his dad played percussion and his mother was a hula dancer. When Mars was just two years old, his father gave him a nickname, Bruno because he resembled professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino.
During the beginning of his career, Bruno had been highly influenced by Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley. He can play guitar and drum set. Mars has a brother, who plays drums for his band and has four sisters who have formed the musical group Lylas.
After being interested in music from a young age, Mars later moved to Los Angeles to pursue a musical career after he graduated from high school. Motown Records initially dropped Mars and then he signed a contract with Atlantic Records in 2009. In the same year, he co-founded the team, The Smeezingtons, which produced songs like, Nothin on you with B.O.B and Billionaire with Tavie McCoy.
In 2010, he released his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, which includes Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single, Grenade and Just the way you are as well as another number-four single The lazy song.
His second album was released in 2012, Unorthodox Jukebox, which includes his famous songs like "Locked out of heaven," "When I was your man" and "Treasure." He recently released his third album, 24K Magic (2016) includes the song That’s what I like.
Mars had a romantic relationship with one of the famous singers, Rita Ora but their relationship didn’t last long (2009-2011). He is now engaged to a 35-year-old American Model Jessica Caban, who was born on 13th June 1982. The couple started dating from 22nd June 2011 and after five years of dating, they got engaged on 26th December 2016.
Mars is one of the best-selling artists of all time, sold over 130 million records worldwide. Mars even landed seven number-one single on Billboard Hot 100 in 2010, which proves that the singer earns a lot through his work.
As of 2017, his net worth is estimated to be $39 million. Bruno spends his earnings on donations as well. Bruno has earned five Grammy Awards, three Guinness World Record, and three Brit Awards. In 2011, he was also named one of time’s 100 most influential people in the world.
