Candice Glover is an American singer best known as the winner of the 12th season of singing reality show American Idol.

Early Life, Family & Education

Candice Glover was born on November 22, 1989, in Beaufort South Carolina, the United States of America, to parents John Glover and Carole Glover.

She was raised with her six younger siblings in Beaufort South Carolina. She is of American nationality and belongs to black ethnicity.

As for her education, Candice attended St. Helena elementary school and lady island middle school. She completed her graduation from Beaufort High School in 2008.

Career

Candice Glover auditioned for American Idol twice once in the 9th and another in the 11th season before getting selected in the twelfth season.

Candice auditioned on the season 9 of the singing reality platform in Charlotte, North Carolina but was later eliminated by the producers after forgetting the lyrics while singing Chasing Pavements (by Adele).

Glover then auditioned for the season 11 of the show in Savannah, Georgia where she sang Blame it on me by Chrisette Michele. She sang Someone like you (by Adele) for which she received a standing ovation from the judges.

For the group round, she performed It Doesn't Matter Anymore by Buddy Holly with the eleventh season finalist Deandre Brackensick and Jessica Sanchez and was eliminated.

For the twelfth season audition, Candice sang Syrup and honey by Duffy and received a standing ovation. She got good comments from the judges as well. Judge Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey said she was ‘the best performer and the best singer by far’.

Glover then went to Hollywood where she performed Impossible by Christina Aguilera for her first round. For her second round, she performed Hit em up Style as the group performance with Kamaria Ousley, Denise Jackson, and Melinda Ademi.

For round three she performed Girl on Fire and became one of the top 20 girls of the season. There she performed Natural Woman (by Aretha Franklin).

For the semi-finals, Candice sang Ordinary People (by John Legend). She was voted into top 10 on March 7, 2013. Her performance (I who have nothing) by Ben e.king earned her a place in the night’s top three contestants.

She also covered ‘Lovesong’ by the Cure and broke down in tears after she received a standing ovation. Her performance earned her the winner's title on May 16.

Soon after her victory her debut single I am Beautiful went on sale in May 2013. She also took part in American Idols Live! Tour 2013, from July 19 to August 31, 2013.

Glover’s second single debut album Cried was released on November 25, 2015. She was also featured on the song, ‘Love No Fear’, released on February 14, 2015.
