Carol was born in Bedford, Bedfordshire in 1960 to father, Anton 'Tony' Vorderman and mother, Edwina Jean and raised by her mother along with her two siblings Anton and Trixie.

Vorderman holds the British nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. She started her career as a junior civil engineer at "Dinorwig power station" in Wales. During free times she used to work as a backstage singer along with friend Lindsay Forrest, their team based in the pop group "Dawn Chorus and the Blue Tits", which led her to fame.

During the mid-1980s Carol worked for the information services department of UK Atomic Energy Authority which is involved in the production of house videos program.

Vorderman started her career on the television game show "Countdown", where she appeared in the role of Maths expert in 1982. She worked for about 16 years in the show and later left the show in 2008.

Following she worked for many shows as co-host that includes Take Nobody's Word for It, How2, World Chess Championship and Tomorrow's World. As well as hosted Annual Pride awards of Britain which was broadcasted at ITV.

Carol was honored as the member of the "Order of the British Empire" for providing for representing the show of the queen's birthday in 2000. Further, she was the candidate for the Rear women of Britain in 2011

Looking at her personal life, Vorderman married in 1984, at the age of 24 to Christopher Mathera navy officer. Their relationship lasted only for a year and they divorced.

Carol married for the second time to Patrick king in 1990 at the age of 29. Vorderman with her husband King has two children Katie and Cameron. Her second marriage also ended to divorce in 2000. Then after, she started living with her mother until her death in 2017.

She used to live a lavish life and had a net worth of £18 million, until her death in 2017.
