In the late 1960s, Chaka began her romantic love affairs with Hassan Khan. She dated him as her boyfriend, however; she had an off relation with him several times. Finally, in 1970, she got married to him. They got divorced in 1971.
A few months later, she was seen with Rahsaan Morris. She also became pregnant for the first time in her life with him and she finally gave birth to her first child, Milani Khan in 1973.
On the 14th of August 1976, Chaka got married to Richard Holland. Richard is a production designer and an art director. They also welcomed their first child together in 1979 and they got divorced in 1980.
In the mid-1980s, Chaka was reported to be dating a Chicago-area schoolteacher. This love life didn't last that long and then she moved to Europe. In 2001, she got married for the third time in her life and that was with Doug Rasheed.
Chaka began her interest in music after her grandmother introduced her to jazz. When she was 11, she formed a girl group, the Crystalettes with her sister Taka. She later joined Black Panther Party but she left them in 1969 and she began singing with the small groups somewhere in Chicago. She also performed with the local band in the early 1970s and then she joined a new group called Rufus in 1972. After signing a recording contract with ABC Records in 1973, they began recording their debut album. They also released their eponymous debut album in 1973. In 1978, she signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records and she finally released her debut solo album, Chaka on the 12th of October 1978. Her net worth is believed to be around $30 million.
