On 11th of November 2000, Chris got married to Deanna Daughtry. Deanna Daughtry has two children from her previous relationship. Together they welcomed twins Adalynn Rose and Noah James at the end of 2010.
When Chris was 16, he became more interested in music. He began singing from those days on. He also took guitar lessons with Matt Jagger at Stacy's Music store. While he was in his high school days, he began performing with rock bands. He also appeared in several stage productions. While he was in his high school, he also formed the band named Cadence. There he served as lead vocals and a guitarist.
Their one and only album, All Eyes on You was released in 1999. After he left this band, he also performed with the rock band Absent Element. They released their third CD Uprooted in 2005. In early 2006, he auditioned in the 5th session of American Idol by performing the song, The Letter. In the next round, he performed the song Emotion. He received huge accolades and praise from the judges and he also reached the Top 4; however, he was eliminated in that round.
After American Idol he appeared in several TV shows like The Tonight Show, Total Request Live, and so on. He also got an offer from Fuel to be their lead singer but he rejected this offer and formed his own band, Daughtry. His self-titled debut album, Daughtry was released on 21st of November 2006.
