In 1991, Horner was awarded with Formula Renault scholarship. After he won this scholarship, he began his motorsport career. The following year, he competed in the British Formula Renault Championship with Manor Motorsport. He was named the winner of that session and he also had the highest placed rookie. After that, he joined British Formula Three and then in 1995 he moved to the Fortec and ADR team. After racing in the British Formula Two for about a year, he began racing at Formula 3000 in 1996. There he found the Arden team. He announced his retirement from racing in 1998 and then he began focusing completely on developing the Arden team. In 1999, he signed Viktor Maslov and Marc Goossens for the FIA F3000 season. After winning three races in Euro F3000 in 2000, he was ranked second in the Championship. At the end of 2004, Jaguar F1 Team was bought by the Austrian energy drink company, Red Bull and later renamed them as Red Bull Racing. Next year, they appointed him and he became the youngest Team Principal. After being 2nd placed in the 2009 Constructors' Championship, they claimed their first Constructors' Championship in 2010. Their racing driver, Sebastian Vettel won the Drivers' Championship and became the youngest World Champion. In 2013, he was named the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
