Damian Marley's early life
The 5 ft. 10 inches tall Damian Marley was born Damian Robert Nesta Marley on 21 July 1978, in Kingston, Jamaica to parents, mother Cindy Breakspeare, and father, Bob Marley. His father is a legendary revolutionary singer, who passed away just after 2 years of his birth, while his mother is the 1976 Miss World. He has no siblings as he was the only child of Bob and Cindy.
However, Damian has a lot of half-siblings from his father's as well as his mother's sides. From his father, he has 11 siblings and from his mother, he has two, a brother and a sister. Damian Marley has been singing for 13 years of age and with that, he has also been smoking since. The singer has only studied till mid-school as she left his high school to pursue his singing career. After he drop out of high school, he started growing dreadlocks in resemblance to his father.

Damian Marley's musical career
In 1991, when Damian Marley was just 13, he formed the musical group, the Shepherds, which also included the daughter of Freddie McGregor and the son of the Third World's Cat Core. The group opened the 1992 Reggae Sunsplash festival and performed in several festivals and shows. Shephards was dissolved in the early 1990s and then Marley began pursuing his solo career.
He released his debut studio album in 1996 titled Mr. Marley, and his second - Halfway Tree was released in 2001. Halfway Tree was co-produced by Damian Marley and Stephen Marley, Marley's half-brother. The album was Marley's breakthrough, landing him the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.

In 2005, he released his third studio album titled Welcome to Jamrock. Stephen Marley produced a song with the same title, Welcome to Jamrock, which was a huge success. Centered around poverty, politics, and crime in Jamaica, the song reached No. 13 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 55 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart. The single was also No. 100 on the Top 100 Songs of the Decade listing by Rolling Stone.
At the 2009 Grammy Awards, American hip-hop artist Nas announced that he and Marley would collaborate on an alum. Distant Relatives was released on May 17, 2010, as Marley and Nas's collaborative album. Distant Relatives debuted at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200 chart with first-week sales of 57,000 copies. Marley joined hands with Mick Jagger, Joss Stone (vocals), Dave Stewart, and A. R. Rahman to form SuperHeavy. The group began recording their self-titled debut album in early 2009. The band released its first lead single, Miracle Worker on iTunes on July 7, 2011.
'Miracle' is a reggae song performed by Marley, Stone, and Jagger. His second single, Satyameva Jayathe (the national motto of India, which means 'Truth Alone Triumphs') was released on August 9, 2011.

In 2012, Damian also worked with the e-artist Skrillex on the song, Make it Bun Dem. The song appeared in the 2012 game Far Cry 3. Stony Hill, Marley's fourth studio album was released in July 2018. Stony Hill won the Grammy award for Best Reggae Album at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
