David Birney or David Edwin Birney is an American actor and director who has devoted his career to a contemporary and classical role in theater, film, and television.

David was born to father, Edwin B. Birney; Special agent of FBI and mother Jeanne as the first child in Washington, D.C. David graduated from West High School in Cleveland and pursued his bachelors degree in B.A. from Dartmouth College as well as M.A. in Theater Arts, acting and directing and honored with a Ph.D. in Humanities from Southern Utah University.

David was one of the students to score distinction in English Literature, English Honors at Dartmouth College. Regarding his ethnicity, he is white and holds an American nationality.

David was interested in acting since his childhood. During his time in Army, he performed in several programs and won an All Army Entertainment contest and also received the "Barter Theatre Award." Following his passion, David started working with the Barter Theater and then the State Theatre of Virginia. His outstanding performance led him to perform with a range of production companies. 

David Birney debuted in New York with Joe Papp's New York Shakespeare Festival as Antipholus of Syracuse in Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors, which won the heart of million of people.
