David Threlfall is an English stage, film, and television actor best known for playing the role of Frank Gallagher in Channel 4 hit series Shameless.
Early Life, Family & Education
David Threlfall was born on October 12, 1953, in Crumpsall, Manchester, Lancashire, England, the United Kingdom, to parents Tommy Threlfall and Joyce Foulds.
His father was a plumber while his mother was a housewife. It's unknown if David is the only child of his parents or he has a sibling.

He has since appeared in various movies Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003), Alien Autopsy (2006), Hot Fuzz (2007), Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) and Nowhere Boy (2009).
As for his television appearances, he has starred in Frederick Forsyth Presents: A Casualty of War, Tommy Cooper: Not Like That, Like This, Nightingales and Ripper Street.
His last film appearance was in 2014's Black Sea while his last television appearance was in 2018's Troy: Fall of a City.
On July 15, 2013, David was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University. He has also won a SWET (Olivier) Award and a Clarence Derwent Award.

David Threlfall is not single but a married man. He tied the knot with a Bosnian actress Brana Bajic in 1995. They share two children together.
The couple first met while he was working on The Count of Monte Cristo at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester in 1994, started dating, and eventually exchanged vows.
David plays the role of a chain smoker in Shameless. However, he has said that in real life, he is a non-smoker who has a dislike for nicotine.
