Dick was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, the U.S. There he got enrolled at Green High School and he finally graduated from there in 1949. That year he joined United States Air Force. There he took meteorology classes to begin his weather classes. He also played an important role in forecasting atmospheric nuclear weapons tests. Later on, he joined Kent State University with a major in drama and broadcasting. He graduated from there in 1960. In 1960, he joined Westinghouse Broadcasting-owned KYW-TV as a weather forecaster. Next year he joined KYW-TV. In the mid-1960s, he moved to Philadelphia but he went back to Cleveland and finally joined WJW-TV as its chief meteorologist in 1966. He also worked with NFL’s Cleveland Browns as its official statistician for home games. He is now aged 85 years old and his net worth is in the millions.
