Doutzen Kroes was born as the daughter of Johan Kroes and Geartsje Leistra on January 23, 1985, in the village of Eastermar, with approximately 1,600 inhabitants, in the province of Friesland, Netherlands, to a Frisian family. Her father was a psychotherapist whereas her mother was a nurse as well as a teacher.
