He was from a middle class family. He was born in Los Angeles, California, United States of America to Cheryl Harris, a law professor at University of California, Los Angeles, and Keorapetse Kgositsile, a South African poet and political activist who left the family when Thebe was six years old.

2009

Formed a musical group named, Earl Sweatshirt

Tyler, the Creator formed Earl Sweatshirt, in 2009. Now it is known as Sly Tendencies. He revealed it via his Myspace account, where he recorded tracks for his Kitchen Cutlery mixtape. The mixtape was never finished or released, however he eventually joined Tyler's rap group Odd Future.

Released his first mixtape, Earl

He became collaborated with Tyler's rap group Odd Future. Earl and Odd Future have been featured in mainstream magazines such as Spin, Billboard and The Fader. He released his debut mixtape, Earl, on March 31, 2010 as a free digital download on the Odd Future website. Most of his album was produced by Tyler, The Creator.

November 5 , 2014

A new song entitled "45" was released

On October 10, 2014, he reveled that he had completed the follow-up album to Doris. On November 5, 2014, a new song entitled "45" produced by The Alchemist was released. On February 14, his first song titled "Quest/Power" was released via SoundCloud.

On March 16, 2015, his pre-record second studio album, named: I Don't Like Shit, I Don't Go Outside: An Album By Earl Sweatshirt appeared on the iTunes Store, without any announcement. On March 17, 2015, he released a music video, for the song "Grief". His full album was released on March 23, 2015.
