Interested in acting from an early age, her talent was spotted after an agent named Joan Scott happened to see her perform in The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder. Impressed by her talent, Scott was the one who suggested her to take acting classes. 

Thereafter, Elizabeth joined American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and later finished her graduation from The Juilliard School in New York City.
