Elvis Stojko was born in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada to Irenee. Though he was born in Irenee, he was raised in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He is an American and is of Hungarian and Slovenian descent. He is five feet and seven inches tall. 

1976

Began skating

When Elvis was just four years old, he began skating. He won this first award as a skater when he was just 6. He has been representing Canada as a figure skater since the early 1990s. 

1991

Took part in World Championships

In 1991, he represented Canada in the World Championships and landed a quadruple-double jump combination being the first man to do that. Next year he competed in the Winter Olympics. He was ranked 7th in this competition. 

1994

Won World Figure skating champion

He began winning trophies since he was six. He is the World champion for three different times. In 1994, he became the World Figure skating champion and he also won this championship in 1995. He also won this competition in 1997.

In 1994, he won the Canadian Figure skating champion for the first time in his life. He also won this in 1996 and won it till 2000. He is also the champion of the Continents championship. He has also claimed Grand Prix Final Championship twice.

Besides having a successful figure skating career, he is also pursuing his career as a commentator. In 2003, he presented the men's event at the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships for CTV/TSN. He has also appeared in the Skating's Next Star as its judge.

He finished at No. 7 at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, and third at the 1992 World Championships, finishing behind winner Viktor Petrenko and runner-up Kurt Browning. He finished behind Kurt Browning, securing a 2nd place at the World Figure Skating Championships

At the 1994 Canadian Championships in Edmonton, Elvis finally defeated Kurt to claim his first national title. During the 1995 Canadian Championships, Elvis sustained a serious ankle injury, however, he competes anyway. In 2006, Elvis retired officially calling his career as a professional figure skater off.
