Emmanuel Petit, was born on September 22 1970 in Dieppe, Seine-Maritime in France. He was born in a middle class family. From a very small age as a boy Petit had a hobby of playing football. 

 

1989

Started his career as a football player

Petit joined the training center of AS Monaco in 1985 cadet first year.  March 18, 1989, when the first team of ASM awash in wounded, Emmanuel Petit played his first professional match at Sochaux . He then played in several positions as needed.

1998

France wins 1998 World Cup

He scored twice in the 1998 World Cup, the first came from a powerful shot from just outside the box against Denmark, which turned out to be the match winner, and a second in the final against Brazil. The goal he scored in the final was particularly memorable.

2000

Married to Agathe de La Fontaine

Petit married French actress Agathe de La Fontaine, in 2000, but later divorced her in 2002 after having one child, Zoe. The couples were seemingly unhappy with their married life so they decided to get a divorce after 2 years of marriage.

2007

Birth of his second child

Again after a few years of divorce he now shares a life with Maria Servello, with whom he had another child, Violet a daughter in 2007. The couple are happy together and there is no sign of separation.

Playing for the France National Team, Petit earned 63 caps and scored 6 international goals in his career and won the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the Euro 2000. He scored twice in the 1998 World Cup, the first came from a powerful shot from just outside the box against Denmark, which turned out to be the match winner, and a second in the final against Brazil.  Petit was also part of the 2002 FIFA World Cup squad. Petit retired from international football in September 2003.
