Ernest Borgnine was born Ermes Effron Borgnino on January 24, 1917, and was 95 years old when he died. He was born in Hamden, Connecticut, the United States of America to Italian father Camillo Borgnino and mother Anna Boselli.
Ernest grew up with his siblings in Connecticut. He joined the United States Navy after completing high school and served for several years. He attended Randall School of Dramatic Art and joined Robert Porterfield Barter Theater.
