Born in Los Angeles, California

Etta who was also known by her nickname, Miss Peaches was born as Jamesetta Hawkins in Los Angeles, California, United States of America to Dorothy Hawkins. She claimed that actor; Rudolf Wanderone Jr. was her father. She was raised by several foster parents. She was an American.

1952

Formed the girl group, the Creolettes

Though she was born to Dorothy Hawkins, she was raised by several foster parents. One of them was Sarge" and "Mama" Lu. Mama Lu died in 1950 and then Etta moved to San Francisco. During the early 1950s, she began listening to Doo-wop and formed the musical group, Creolettes. They performed in several night clubs. They signed a recording deal with Modern Records.

November 15 , 1960

Released her first album, At Last!

After her deal with Modern Records was released, she signed a contract with Argo Records and her debut studio album, At Last! was finally released on 15th of November 1960. It was one of the greatest albums of all time. 

1969

Married to Artis Mills

In 1969, Etta got married to Artis Mills. As a married couple, they became parents twice. While she was married to him, she got involved in several legal issues like drug addiction and possession. He was sentenced to prison for about a decade.

In the early 2010, she was hospitalized for minor infection, she was infected by MRSA but the following year, she was diagnosed with leukemia and it took her life on 20th of January 2012. Her funeral was held eight days after her death.

After this deal was released, she signed a contract with Argo Records and her debut studio album, At Last! was finally released on 15th of November 1960. Her second album, The Second Time Around was released at the end of 1961.
