Born in 1982 in St. Louis, Missouri, to a Jewish family, David Packouz joined Efraim Diveroli's arms company AEY Inc. in 2005 at the age of 23, while Efraim was only 19 years old at the time.
Initially, a Licensed Massage Therapist, David, by the end of 2006, had won 149 contracts worth around $10.5 million via collaboration with Efraim in AEY.
In 2007, AEY made the U.S. government contract worth nearly of $300 million to supply the Afghan Army with 100 million rounds of AK-47 ammunition, millions of rounds for SVD Dragunov sniper rifles, and aviation rockets.
Due to their penchant for marijuana, the pair were often known as "the stoner arms dealers" or "the dudes".
However, David and Efraim violated the contract with the U.S. Army with the use of Chinese ammunition, that was banned by the United States and pled guilty for Conspiracy to Defraud the United States.

In January 2011, under the general conspiracy statute, 18 U.S.C. section 371; Diveroli was sentenced to four years in federal prison, while Packouz was sentenced to seven months' house arrest in January 2011.
Currently, David is the CEO of music technology company Singular Sound who invented the guitar-pedal drum machine, the BeatBuddy.
David Packouz in 2012 became again in the custody of police after being arrested at Motel 82 in Naples, Florida. Packouz was alleged to have agreed to have sex with an undercover Collier County deputy for $400.
