Gabby Douglas began her career at the age of six, Gabby won the Virginia State Championships while she was eight years in 2004. Her father was a big inspiration to her as well as Douglas's older sister Arielle; a former gymnast who built her passion towards gymnastics.
Gabby Douglas debuted nationally at the US Classic in Houston in 2008 and became 10th in the all-around rankings. Despite all pain and injuries, she pushed herself and worked hard which led her to win the silver medal on the balance beam at Junior National Championships in 2010.

With the dream to become a champion, Gabby moved to Des Moines Iowa at the age of 14 and started full-time training with Liang Chow; Olympic gold medalist. During her career, she had to face several fractures, and injuries and also suffered a hamstring strain and hip flexor injury.
Moreover, Gabby earned a silver medal on uneven bars in 2011, being the third on bars and placed seventh in all-around in the 2011 US National Championships, and achieved a gold medal in the 2011 World Championships and the same medal in uneven bars at the Pacific Rim Championships.
With the raising in fame, Gabby participated in the City of Jesolo Trophy and placed 4th in the all-around championship and second in World Artistic Gymnastic Championship in 2015. Moreover, she also won the gold medal in all-around at the 2016 AT&T American Cup.

Looking at her personal life, Gabby had to face several criticisms due to the accusations of ethnicity. She was the first African-American to set an Olympic history by winning the gold medal in the individual all-around and team competitions.
