Studied at Dunstable Grammar School

As both of his parents were from England, his mother also wanted him to learn English education. For this his mother took him to Bedfordshire and there he got enrolled at Dunstable Grammar School. He studied there till 1912.

Joined Grinnell College

At the end of his high school days, he joined Gallatin County High School. During that time, he was also active in school’s debating team. In 1920, he joined Montana Agricultural College where he studied arts. Two years later, he got enrolled at Grinnell College with a major in art education.
