Following the dream to be a professional musician as his father, Geddy started group band with his high school friends. His inspiration, his father died due to imprisonment during World War II. Geddy state that, "After losing the father at an early age made him aware how quickly life can disappear and these things inspired him to get the most out of his life and Music."
Geddy Lee began playing professionally in coffeehouses, high school dances and at different events by which he supports his family and his dream. With the increasing of necessities in-house, Geddy started concerts at various places, most of the time of own songs.
Soon, his band achieved huge fame and started performing as an opening act for groups such as Aerosmith, Kiss, and Blue Oyster Cult.
Touching the hight of success, Rush's as a rock group won the heart of millions of people over the five years. They toured worldwide and launched several hit albums including, 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves, etc. After years of hard work, Rush became one of the biggest rock band.
Further, Lee along with his bandmates got an Officer from the Order of Canada and ranked as the 13th by Hit Parader on the list of the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Vocalists of all time.

Moving towards his personal life, Geddy Lee married his long-term girlfriend, Nancy Young in 1976. The couple gave birth to a son, Juliana and a daughter, Kyla. They are happy together, and they never rumored on getting the divorce.
