German Alejandro Garmendia Aranis is a Chilean YouTuber, writer, and comedian famous for his YouTube Channels HolaSoyGerman and JuegaGerman and songs he produced with his band.
His book Chupa El Perro was released on 28 April 2016 in Latin America and Spain. He is also the most subscribed Spanish-speaking YouTuber.
German was born on 25 April 1990 in Copiapo, Chile. He was raised separately from his older brother Diego during childhood with whom he reunited later in Los Vilos.
German lost his father when he was just three years old on Christmas Eve in a car accident. Since then he grew up with his mother whom he calls ‘Super Mom’.
German attended El Chanar Basic School for his high school and later graduated from Escuela Tecnico Professional (ETP) in 2004. He then moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 23 to pursue a career in acting.
German uploaded his first YouTube video on September 9, 2011, to his channel HolaSoyGerman which ended up being very popular. He has been active since then and has posted 137 videos in Holasoygerman and 1.4k in his second YouTube Channel Juegagerman.

German along with his brother formed the band Zudex when he was 13 years old. They started creating music together and started uploading it to their YouTube Channel Zudex in August 2006.

He also won the Icon of the Year prize from the MTV Millennial Awards 2014 in August 2014 and 2015. German was also the first YouTuber to receive two Diamond Play Buttons for 57 million subscribers on his two channels.
German made a longer appearance in YouTube Rewind 2015 and 2016 due to his accomplishment compared to 2014. He was also cast as Julian in the Spanish version of the Ice age: Collision Course alongside Adam DeVine, Lilly Singh, and John Leguizamo.
In 2013, German got caught in a bot controversy when a YouTuber named LordDestroyer uploaded a video accusing him of cheating soon after he gained 1 million subscribers within six months of creating his channel. German was claimed for using bot websites like YoulikeHits, SocialClump, and AddSocials in a now-deleted video.
But German responded to that video explaining to viewers that he was just checking if they actually work. His respond led LordDestroyer to delete his channel due to attacks he got from Garmendia’s fans.
In April 2014, German fainted due to heat exposure in an event he was supposed to appear at the Telmex Digital Village in Zocalo, Mexico City leading the crowd to become unruly, forcing their way past barriers causing more injuries. Later the crowd was dispersed and the event got canceled. German later expressed condolences to his fans for the day.
The 29-year-old YouTube star was in a relationship with a Mexican YouTuber Alison Smith. The two were friends before dating, and Alison would be seen in German’s videos in the background playing with Mimi, German's dog. However, they ended their relationship without a reason.
German is currently dating a TV host Lenay Chantelle Olsen, known for her MTV Show 10 on Top. He introduced her as his girlfriend officially on May 29. The two seem to be living a happy love life as there are no rumors of them splitting or anything.
