Gil Bates is a TV reality star known for his TV show Bringing Up Bates on Up TV. The show centers around Gil, Kelly and their 19 children.
Gil born was born as Gilvin Bates to Bill Bates and Jane Bates on January 1, 1965, in Honea Path, South California. He was raised along with his siblings Greg Bates and Jennifer.
Gil was obsessed with football from a young age and started playing by the age of eight. Gil attended Belton-Honea Path High School. He then attended Anderson University where he met his future wife, Kelly Jo Callaham.

They didn't stop giving birth to children until Ellie Bridge (B. 4/28/07), Callie-Anna Rose (B. 8/2/09), Judson Wyatt (B. 9/15/10), and Jeb Colton (B. 2/1/12) were born.
Gil’s daughter Erin married Chad Paine on November 2, 2013. The pair has three children Charles Stephen (Carson) born in 5/14/15, Brooklyn Elise born in 8/6/16, and Everly Hope born in 3/30/18.
On December 14, 2013, Zach married Whitney Perkins, and has two children together, Bradley Gilvin born in 10/29/14 and Kaci Lynn in 5/20/16.
Gil’s daughter Alyssa married John Webster on May 24, 2014, and has three children together, Allie Jane, born in 4/11/15, Lexi Mae, in 1/26/17 and Zoey Joy, in 3/28/18.
On August 15, 2015, Michaela married Brandon Keilen. However, the couple does not have any children together.
And on December 16, 2017, Tori married Bobby Smith. The pair is expecting their first child due this fall.

On October 20, 2015, against the Institute in Basic Life Principles and its board members a lawsuit was filed claiming ‘sexual abuse, sexual harassment, and inappropriate touching’. However, on November 13, 2015, it was cleared that the lawsuit was misplaced with Bill Gothard being the only source of misbehavior and on December 2, 2015, the complaint was dismissed.
