Gilda Radner was born in Detroit, Michigan to a legal secretary Henneta and businessman Herman Radner in 28th June 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. Her nationality is American and is of mixed descent. Her father was of Russian Jewish/Lithuanian Jewish descent and her mother was of Polish Jewish descent.

Joined NBC's Saturday Night Live

Driven and comically innovative Radner joined the cast of NBC's Saturday Night Live in 1975. She was the first performer cast -the freshman in the group of the show. She was respected for her creative ideas and her contributions were well received.

Won an Emmy Award

Radner was comical and creative and her work at SNL provided her the platform to catapult herself into popularity. She had a successful run in the show and appeared in 107 episodes as a performer cast.

Died of Ovarian Cancer

In December of 1985, she had learned that the cancer had relapsed and went into coma after given an anesthetic during chemotherapy. After 3 days of coma, she died in Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles. Her husband Wilder was with her at the time of her death.
