Anderson was born as Gillian Leigh Anderson to Edward Anderson and Rosemary Anderson on August 9, 1968, in Chicago. Most of her childhood, she spent in north London’s Crouch End and Harringay. She is of American-British nationality and belongs to mixed ethnicity, English, German, and Irish.
