Born as Graham William Walker in County Cork, Ireland, United Kingdom to Irish parents, Norton was raised in Bandon, County Cork. He is Irish. His parents are Protestant. He is five feet and eight inch tall.

1992

Began his stand up career

During his early days, he worked as a waiter. In 1992, he began his stand up career. Few months later, he also made his broadcasting debut. He then changed his name to Norton. One of his early careers was tea-towel clad Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

1996

Appeared in the television series, Father Ted

During the early 1980s, he made his broadcasting debut. He began appearing in BBC Radio 4 show Loose Ends as a comedian and panelist. In 1996, he began appearing in the television series, Father Ted.

Became the subject of controversy

After he began his broadcasting career, he worked at Channel 5 for several years and then he joined Channel 4. He began worked there as the host of the shows like So Graham Norton and V Graham Norton. In 2003, he made an insensitive comment about the recent death of Bee Gees singer, Maurice Gibb. He later apologized for this comment.

After spending several years in Channel 4, he joined BBC in 2005. Initially, he served them as the host of the show, Strictly Dance Fever. During that time, he also began presenting his own show, Graham Norton's Bigger Picture.

Appeared as the judge of Miss Lesbian Beauty Contest 2000

In July 2000, he appeared in the Miss Lesbian Beauty Contest 2000 as one of the judges of this competition. This competition was won by Carol Hutchins who was 42 years old at that time. He has also appeared in several other contests.
