Treadaway attended Queen Elizabeth's Community College in Crediton, Devon, along with his twin brother Luke. They played twice in the Devon Cup winning Rugby Union team. During his college time, he and his twin brother were highly inspired by Eddie Vedder and their secondary school drama teacher Phil Gasson, and they formed a band called Lizardsun with friends Matt Conyngham and Seth Campbell. The twin brother also joined the National Youth Theatre later on.
