Heather is a married woman. She is married to Dr. Monty Goldbach. Dr. Monty Goldbach is a heart surgeon. The actual date when they got married is unknown. They are still together as a married couple.
Though Heather was raised in medical family, she had different interest. She became more interested in literature and journalism than medical. With the completion of her secondary education, she joined University of Toronto. There she majored in French language and literature and finally earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986. The following year, she graduated from University of Western Ontario with a Masters' degree in journalism. She began her professional career from radio station CFOS/CFPS. In 1988, she joined London's Rock FM96 CFPL-FM where she worked for about a year. In 1990, she began working at 1290 CJBK as the co host of the morning show. She has also worked at CIQC, CBC Montreal and CHCH. She then joined CBC as the host of the show, CBC News: Morning.
